El Cajon Valley High School

English Learners make up a large portion of our students at El Cajon Valley High School, and we are proud of our diverse student population. We encourage parents and guardians of English Learners to get involved at ECVHS. There are many ways for you to get involved in your child's education:
  • English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) :
    • What is ELAC? ELAC is a committee of parents of students whose first language is not English. The purpose of the committee is to participate in the education of the students, to advise the principal and other decision makers, and to make decisions about the programs and services for English learners.
    • ELAC meetings are held in the ECVHS Presentation Room.
    • See the calendar below for meeting dates and times.
  • District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC) :
    • District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC) is a fantastic way for parents to become involved in their child's education at a district level. Each month parents, teachers, district leaders, and community members attend DELAC meetings.
    • Parents of English Learners participate in meetings about English Learner (EL) services which include how EL money is used, the reclassification process, and setting educational and career goals.
    • DELAC meetings are held at the Grossmont Union High School District Office, Main Conference Room. 1100 Murray Drive, El Cajon CA 92020.
    • See the calendar below for meeting dates and times.
  • EL Parent Symposium for Arabic-Spanish speaking parents of newcomer students :
    • The goal of this parent program is to educate parents about El Cajon Valley High School and the U.S. school system. The desired result of the program is to increase student attendance, graduation rates, interest in college, and improve behavior. All topics will be presented in an engaging and interactive way. We want the parents to interact with the information and with each other.
    • The calendar for meeting dates and times for the 2020-2021 school year is currently being developed.
